It is an important base in China for the teaching and research of foreign languages, translation, tourism, and economics and foreign trade. BISU, founded in 1964 with the support of China’s late premier Zhou Enlai, was one of China\'s first few institutions that offered undergraduate education in foreign languages. In its history, BISU was once under the successive leaderships of China International Cultural Liaison Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People\'s Government of Beijing Municipality, Ministry of Education and China National Tourism Administration. Today, BISU is sponsored by the People\'s Government of Beijing Municipality.

What are the requirements for applicants of your free exchange seats?

1. Students applying for IBS exchange program should come from partner university.

2. IELTS 6 or TOEFL IBT79; or any official documents demonstrating applicants’ English proficiency (for example, an official letter from the home university stating that applicants are able to use English as study language).

3. Applicants should be adaptable to new environment, and be friendly and open when interacting with people with different and diversified cultural backgrounds.

BISU is located in Beijing’s Chaoyang District, with The Central Business District (CBD) on its west and Tongzhou District, the subsidiary administrative centre of Beijing, on its east. Currently, BISU has nearly 10,000 registered students, including 6,100 undergraduate students, 1,300 graduate students and 1,000 international students. It is organized into 16 Schools, 7 departments and 3 supporting units. The library has collections of over 1,080,000 volumes, about 1,010 current journals, and an extensive collection of electronic resources. The library has 44 Chinese databases, 45 foreign language databases and two databases created and compiled by BISU itself. BISU offers 13 primary disciplines (Foreign Language and Literature, Business Management, Applied Economics, Chinese Language and Literature, Marxism, Journalism and Communication, Law, Political science, Education, Art, Sports, Computer Science and Technology, and Maths) and 40 undergraduate majors. Four primary disciplines and 22 secondary disciplines have been authorized to confer Masters degrees. It also offers 5 professional Masters degree programmes. BISU has a Joint Doctoral Programme in translation with Binghamton University-the State University of New York, a Joint Doctoral Programme in tourism with Griffith University in Australia, and a post-doctoral research station (co-founded with Social Sciences Academic Press). It has four municipal key disciplines of Beijing and four national characteristic majors.

The International School of Business (ISB) at BISU aims to build and sustain an internationalized high quality scholarly community in business and management education in Beijing. It promotes high quality teaching, research and enterprise at international level. Building upon BISU’s tradition of international studies excellence, ISB offers its students an exceptional opportunity with its Global Curriculum and Business Case Studies with Participant Mix. The former includes international perspectives for an interconnected world and global business challenges. Some of the students have already went to study at famous universities all around the world like University of California Berkeley. Whereas the latter focuses on active learning from real life, real world exposure and experience, in gaining business acumen and intellectual insights in complex decision making processes. Over the whole data of working experience after graduation, a large company in every field tends to include those graduates. ISB is very well established and is developing long-term collaborations with universities in the US, the UK, France, Canada and Australia, among others.
